2018 Stonemaier Design Day Top 5

After several conversations with Jamey Stegmaier since my design journey began, I had the privilege to participate in the 2018 Stonemaier Design Day – a highly organized day where ~100 designers and playtesters come together to play each dozens of designs and provide feedback on the progress and viability of each game. Not only did I get to enjoy the company, feedback, and dialogue with many accomplished and aspiring designers. Legacies ended up getting recognized in the top 5 designs! (You can even see Legacies in the 2nd photo on Jamey’s summary of Design Day.) This further fueled the flame for me to continue enhancing Legacies and preparing it for a Kickstarter launch in the near future.

GenCon 2018 – WOW!

We had a fantastic time at GenCon 2018. Over the 4 days we had the honor of meeting, playing games, and talking with dozens of playtesters, designers, and vendors.

We spent the majority of our time in the First Exposure Playtest Hall (hosted by the fabulous team from Double Exposure) where we conducted 9 playtests of Legacies and Alien Autopsy Academy with nearly 40 playtesters. We can not thank our playtesters enough for spending a couple of hours of their GenCon time playing and providing feedback on our game. Our playtesters were engaged, passionate gamers who provided us with hundreds of constructive comments. Since returning, we’ve been pouring through the feedback and making adjustments to the designs based on that feedback.

We also met a bunch of fun designers with a wide variety of games in various states of development. The opportunity to connect and collaborate with other designers was priceless as we received great tips and tricks for working through the design process to our eventual Kickstarter launch. We’ll certainly be staying in touch with our new friends and will be rooting for their designs as they bring their passions to priority like we are.

Stay tuned for another update in the coming weeks as we prepare Legacies for Stonemaier Games Design Day in St. Louis! In the meantime, keep playing games and make sure to Flow with the Fun!

GenCon 2018 – First Exposure Playtest Hall

In two weeks, we’ll be playtesting two of our games at GenCon’s First Exposure Playtest Hall. Come join us to try out and provide feedback on either (or BOTH) of our prototypes. Legacies is a strategic worker placement game that has you forging relationships, building heirlooms, making investments, and identifying successors to cement your legacy over the span of three centuries. Alien Autopsy Academy is a hilarious two-player light strategy game where two fledgling students shove probes and scalpels into aliens while trying not to destroy the universe. Even if you don’t have time to try one of our games, stop in and look for our banner to say “Hi”!

GenCon50 – 50 Puns in 50 Tweets

Jason will be attending GenCon50 in Indianapolis this year and plans to make the rounds, meeting designers, industry superstars, and board game fans throughout the convention.  To chronicle his experience, Jason has challenged himself to achieve 50 “Meet & Tweet”s.  What’s a Meet & Tweet?  It’s when you meet someone – take a photo to document the interaction – and tweet it.  Over 4 days, I plan to post 50 Meet & Tweets – EACH with their very own Brooks Pun!  Follow @brookspungames on Twitter or search #GenCon50 to find out who Jason encounters during GenCon50.
